Excellent overview of Mapplethorpe's work. Flowers, portraits, bodies, gay S&M it's all here. Good size prints of fine quality. About 150 pages.I'd enjoyed a show of Mapplethorpe at Berkeley in the late 80's and just finished the excellent "Just Kids" by Patti Smith (story of their years together) and felt a need to revisit the awe of his work.I also ordered Robert Mapplethorpe by Richard Marshall, also excellent, a bit better actually. The two did share some of the same photos but that number was fairly small. Together they formed a very solid collection, awe delivered.I got fine paperback copies of both books for less than $10 total, a joy to my budget and spirit.
